Cycling

For years I have enjoyed cycling, not just as a recreational activity, but also as a competitive sport. Riding a bicycle is a delightful experience, as it allows the rider to engage in physical exertion, keeping them fit. The mood boost from this cardio activity is one of the main reasons why so many people cycle as a hobby.

Cycling is very versatile. It can be done solo or as part of a group. It can also be leisurely or highly intensive. My favourite thing about cycling is that it allows me to explore the great outdoors and travel at my own pace.

Bicycle Racing

On occasion, I have competed in bicycle racing. It was tough, as the other riders were much more experienced. If you want to take part in these races, then it requires dedication. Improving your own stamina over time is essential to reach the same levels as regular racers.

I have never won one of these competitions. However, each time I took part in one, it taught me the importance of always striving to reach greater heights. If you are genuinely interested in this sport, then you can usually find the nearest races listed online.

Bicycle Safety

Since bikes can go at reasonably high speeds, it is essential to take the right safety precautions. Helmets need to be worn to prevent head injuries in the event of a crash. The bike itself should be in full working order. In particular, the brakes need to be tested, so that they can stop the bike when they need to.

When riding bicycles on the road, all the local laws should be followed. For instance, in the UK, cyclists need to stay on the left side of the road and use their hands to indicate when they are about to turn left and right.
